LYNNE STATHAM: Equine behaviour

and animal healing services

Introduction from Lynne

My working life with horses began as a BHS riding instructor, teaching and training on yards and also working freelance. I then began looking for a more natural, sympathetic way of training and riding.  I spent four months training with Monty Roberts,  and touring with him in the UK, and I studied various different ‘natural’ training methods including Parelli. I studied equine behaviour which was invaluable when working with behavioural issues such as nervous horses, catching, loading and backing.  From these experiences and knowledge, I was able to formulate my own training ideas and methods. I have also worked with horses at the Sussex Horse Rescue Trust and Polegate Pony Rescue Trust.  I am also a volunteer healer at The Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary in Shere, Surrey which offers healing for animals and humans. “‘Lynne has been working on some of our problem equines.  In particular we have great hopes for our ‘wild mule’.  Lynne has already achieved more in 35 minutes than we have in 3 years with methods based on compassion and body language; as communicators between man and horse we can only hope this will make a better world for equines.” Sussex Horse Rescue Trust. Uckfield, East Sussex
“I believe it is our responsibility to provide as natural an environment as possible for animals in our care.  They are living in a human world and we expect a lot from them.” Lynne Staham
